Main Components and Tasks of the Project 

Component I: Storm Water Drainage Improvement,

which is the main component sharing more than 95% of project cost, consisting of; Strom water Drainage works, Drains Improvement, Lake Dredging, Sea Outfall Improvement, and Non Structural Measures. 

improvement of drainage canals, culverts and ditches comprising of 6.42 km of main canals, 6.73 km of secondary canals, and 59.1 km of tertiary drains, construction of a peripheral road and linear park around the Lunawa Lagoon, continuous operation for breaching of the sand bar at the sea outfall, construction of 6 resettlement sites along the Lunawa Ela to accommodate relocates and procurement of O/M equipment.

Improve water quality by relocating 855 families living on the channel banks and upgrading of underserved settlements. NWSDB to complete Ratmalana Moratuwa Industrial Waste Water and  Sewerage Project 

Component II: Community Development,

which is the Supplementary component designed to facilitate the component I,

Resettlement of about 855 HHs from the bank of main canals and the lake Uplifting of living condition of theses families by providing assistance to build their houses and community infrastructure facilities and services

Uplifting of the living condition and quality of life of communities in Lunawa catchments with special focus on;

• Affected under-served communities 3350HHs in 15 Settlements       

• Resettled Households; Families to be resettled under the project and   remaining under-served families along the canal and lake banks through the promotion of community initiated self-help programs and creation of community based volunteer organizations.
